Coral Work - Creative Development One
A Climate Collaboration in partnership with TippingPoint Australia
Coinciding with the June 2010 tour of Yakumo Honjin to Cairns as part of On Edge Festival, Aphids' artists began the first stage of creative development for Coral Work, an underwater concert created and performed on the Great Barrier Reef.
Research interviews were conducted with the Rainforest Reef Research Centre (RRRC) into coral spawning and the effects of climate change on the population growth of the coral in the surrounding tropical waters.
The development was further supported by Tanks Arts Centre and On Edge Festival.

Coral Work at TippingPoint Australia
Aphids attended and discussed Coral Work creative development and research undertaken on the Great Barrier Reef at the sci-art focused conference TippingPoint Australia, which took place from the 5-6th November at Performance Space, Sydney.
TippingPoint is a groundbreaking British organisation that aims to reduce the critical gap between the knowledge of and the response to climate change by exploring the boundary between artistic and cultural life and the extraordinary challenge of our changing planet.
