Quiver, Melbourne’s award winning new music ensemble, performs two innovative Australian works that explore the connections between aurally and visually perceived colour. Watercolour graphic scores, 8mm film and instrumental extremes merge in an immersive concert experience.

Waiting to Turn into Puzzles is a collaborative work by film artist Louise Curham and composer David Young. Shot in Yokohama Japan, this 45 minute hand-processed super 8 film/music work forms the basis of the musical scores. The inter-medial nature of the work creates a hovering connectedness between image and sound, shifting the boundaries between the artforms.

Viper Gloss by Melbourne’s wunderkind James Rushford has been commissioned by Quiver and will receive its world premiere performance at the Trilling Wire. The compositional process is informed by the grisailles technique of staining glass, where different shades of grey are used to create the effect of a relief.

Quiver have been supported by Aphids (www.aphids.net), and through the Arts Victoria: Victoria Rocks program.

ABC Classic FM have presented Waiting To Turn Into Puzzles online. This eight-part video series brings you the piece in it's entirety as seen at the Reel Music Festival.

This is a unique audio-visual collaboration between film maker Louise Curham and composer David Young.

Shot in Yokohama on special Super 8 film and hand processed in Australia, the film Waiting to turn into puzzles is a visually gorgeous moving-image artwork.
