APHIDS LISTENS

EPISODE 17 PRIYA NAMANA

This episode is hosted by Amaraa Raheem who speaks with artist and curator Priya Namana about concerts, borders, dewdrops and autonomy. Priya’s practice is led by felt senses and lived experience.

This trio of APHIDS LISTENS episodes is curated by the dynamic dancer and scholar Amaara Raheem, one of the APHIDS Triad. She skillfully guides discussions with extraordinary women who are reshaping their fields and challenging existing ways of making art and culture in Australia. It feels like the right time to find those thinking inside of institutions in new ways. The podcast becomes a companion for contemplation, urging listeners to reflect on the potential for actions small and large that instigate systemic change.

Those who know Amaara will know her as a generous and curious host, and for those who don’t, we’re delighted to introduce you to her. She brings her robust interrogation of ideas and charming ability to pick up on poetic possibilities and crossovers.

APHIDS LISTENS is an alternative archive where artists share a work they’ve made, and a work they’ve loved.

Original APHIDS LISTENS theme and music by Becky Sui Zhen, audio engineering by Nina Buchanan.

APHIDS acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Boon wurrung peoples on whose lands we live and work. Sovereignty was never ceded and we pay our respect to past, present, and future Aboriginal elders and community, and to their long and rich history of artmaking on this Country.
