LES RENCONTRES INTERNATIONALES, BERLIN

FINALE

Finale is a short film that follows one man’s journey to the silver screen alongside senior marching ladies, motorcycle clubs, a community orchestra and primary school students.

Finale merges the essence of a musical with contributions from a diverse range of local community groups located in the Mornington Peninsula of Victoria, Australia. The nostalgia associated with Drive In Cinemas unfolds alongside the local wild natural landscapes to create a journey of longing and commitment. Finale is a surreal portrait of a community merged and our desire for that one moment of fame.

Inspired by and starring local hero Evan Knoble and co-starring Rosebud Astral Theatre Society, Dromana Senior Citizens’ Marching Ladies, Frankston Orchestra, Mornington Peninsula Chorale, Peninsula Youth Music Society, Kunyung Primary School, Ulysses Club (Mornington Wanderers & Two Bays Branches).

It was filmed across the Mornington Peninsula with the support of local businesses The Dromana Drive In, Flinders Cove Motel, Boys on Seats, Earimil Gardens, Sunny Ridge Farm, Dromana Senior Citizens’ Centre, Rosebud Memorial Hall, Kunyung Primary School, Dromana Senior Citizens’ Centre and Kananook Primary School

Finale was created by Aphids with its key artists collaboratively writing, creating and producing the work.
