Speak Percussion in association with Aphids

IT LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING, BUT WE CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT YOU ARE DOING

In its premiere for Big West Festival, percussionist Eugene Ughetti performed a series of works that cross the boundaries of music and choreography, challenging us to rethink how we see, hear and move, presenting a performer with a gong and stick on an empty stage traversing a journey through the perception of sight, sound, movement and their deeper meaning.

The virtuosic showcase featured a dance work for percussionist by Texas-based choreographer Deborah Hay, as well as new works by Eugene Ughetti, Aphids’ own David Young, Alex Garsden, and Sydney choreographer Martin del Amo.
