MOTHERSHIP - IN DEVELOPMENT

Created in partnership with HOSSEI, MOTHERSHIP is a large‑scale, socially engaged installation and performance for outdoor and civic spaces, which explores the diverse roles of the mother in our contemporary moment.

This work looks at relationships with people in matriarchal and caring roles — non‑biological mothers, trans mothers, older sisters raising siblings, great‑grandmothers, house mothers, Western Sydney mothers, uncle mothers, brothers mothers and potentially even non‑human mothers and is interested in expanding the definition of “mother” as someone who holds space, provides care, and sustains others — often invisibly.

APHIDS acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Boon wurrung peoples on whose lands we live and work. Sovereignty was never ceded and we pay our respect to past, present, and future Aboriginal elders and community, and to their long and rich history of artmaking on this Country.
