2026 SUPERMASSIVE ARTISTS
SUPERMASSIVE is APHIDS’ exchange program, designed to support intergenerational knowledge exchange and development of artistic pathways.
ARI ANGASKA is an Indonesian artist based in Naarm (Melbourne, AU) working across screen, performance, and music. Ari’s practice investigates the persistence of sound and the role of resonance in the generating of images. Her work has exhibited widely, with recent exhibitions and showings at Gertrude Contemporary (AU), West Space (AU), Bangkok Kunsthalle, and Queer East Film Festival (UK).
TOMMY MISA is a Samoan Australian artist raised between his village of Toamua (Samoa), Ngunnawal country (Canberra) and now based in Naarm. Tommy’s work focuses on finding humour and heart amongst community, place and people. He has created major commissions for the Biennale of Sydney and Art Gallery of NSW and created performance works for many major performance, festivals and contemporary institutions. Tommy also works in screen as a writer and was a key creative and Associate Producer on ‘Moni’ for SBS, Australia’s first full length scripted Pasifika series.
GRACE CONNORS is an artist and curator working within the visual and performing arts sector. She has exhibited across Australia since 2016, with her practice predominantly performance–based and oriented towards storytelling, kinship and collaboration. She performed at Hobiennale in 2017 with the performance featured in Frieze Magazine. She has presented performance lectures at UWA Gender Diversity in Music and Art Conference 2019 and Revelation Film Festival Academic Conference in 2018. Connors has undertaken studio residencies at Midland Junction Arts Centre in 2020, and has been artist in residence at PICA in 2019, 2025 and 2026. Her current work, Bluebird23 underwent creative development with APHIDS (VIC) in their inaugural ODYSSEY ODYSSEY program in 2025, with further development through the newly formed Experimental Commissioning Consortium, supported by PICA.
