Hot Yoga

On the 11th of October 2024, takatāpui artist Zack Lewin met a boy outside the neon red ‘HOT YOGA’ sign on Johnston Street. Exactly one year later, he releases ‘HOT YOGA’.

After an explosive affair with an infamous Pākehā socialite, Zack is forced to reconsider his relationship with his Māori father, and by extension, his Māori identity. Indulging that any effort to connect with his Indigeneity is rendered performative by his whiteness, Zack performs his process of connection through chronicling ordinary moments where queerness has created connection.

Introducing the latest work from SUPERMASSIVE artist Zack Lewin — a fresh, self-published project outside the APHIDS stable.

APHIDS acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Boon wurrung peoples on whose lands we live and work. Sovereignty was never ceded and we pay our respect to past, present, and future Aboriginal elders and community, and to their long and rich history of artmaking on this Country.
